Our Mentoring Approach
The transfer of Business Skills is best achieved through mentoring. The ESS model is to use experienced business consultants to work one-on-one with the business owners.

For an existing business the mentoring program starts with an analysis of the owner's entrepreneurial profile and an evaluation or Situation Analysis of the existing business. We have developed a comprehensive "Situation Analysis" that identifies possible missing or weak components required for a successful business. We assist in the development of appropriate business strategies and interventions to address the identified weaknesses.

Examples of potential gaps are:
• Poor financial controls
• Ineffective marketing and sales strategies
• Human Resource problems
• Production and operational problems

The initial assessment will include:
• Review of the business
• Entrepreneur assessment
• Site visit and situational analysis
• SWOT analysis
• Vision and strategic objectives
• Recommendations

Thereafter we base our mentoring interventions around the monthly management accounts. Here we prepare detailed income statements, balance sheets and cash flows. We comment on the profitability of the business in terms of Turnover, Gross Profit, Overheads, Breakeven and Net Profit. We review the balance sheet items and analyse the solvency and liquidity of the business.
